Refresh Your Mind With These Three Steps

Refresh Your Mind With These Three Steps

If you've been following along with us for sometime now you know that we think it is incredibly important for your overall health that you take good care of your skin, I don't think that would surprise anyone.  Did you also know that we think it is equally important to take good care of your mental health as well?

It's true.  We believe your mental health is equally important as your skincare routine and when you show the same amount of attention and care to your mental health your life will flourish in ways you may never have thought possible.

That's why we wanted to take some time today to talk about a few things that have helped us get our mind right and attack the spring and summer with vigor and joy.  Take these three steps and you can do the same.  As the seasons turn it's a great opportunity to step out of the old and into something new to make your life what you've always wanted it to be.

Step #1: Get into a new routine.  Your routine matters.  How you wake up in the morning, what you do for breakfast, if you get any exercise, where you work, all of these things and many more contribute to your routine.  If your routine isn't working for you, you should take some time, reevaluate it and then start something new.  Small changes will make all the difference in the world.  You might change what you eat for breakfast, which work task you tackle when you first get in in the morning.  What time of day you are exercising.  All of these things can make a huge impact on your mental health.

Step #2: Prioritize relationships.  No matter which relationships you value or how many you value, putting a priority on people who fill your bucket and make you feel good about yourself is one of the best things you can do for your mental health.  Take time to engage with them.  Send a text.  Give them a call.  Better yet, find time to visit with them and chat about your shared interests.  It doesn't matter who your relationship is with, as long as she/he makes you feel welcome and gives you the opportunity to get what you need out of the relationship.

Step #3: Get more sleep.  One of the most important things you can do for your mental health is to get enough sleep each and every day.  You know your body and you know what you need, but you need to make it a priority.  For adults, most doctors recommend between 7-8 hours a night, but you'll know what is right for you.  If you prioritize your sleep you will feel yourself start to get healthier.

Just like working on your physical health, working on your mental health is a work in progress, it always will be.  Taking the first steps toward better mental health will put you on a path to happiness and joy.  We wish you luck and look forward to hearing about your progress.
