Three Important Reasons To Moisturize Your Skin This Summer

The summer can be a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors and get lots of great time with friends and family, but if you don't continue a quality skincare routine it can also be quite damaging to your skin.  The hot summer sun and perspiration that often occurs when you are out in it can be quite damaging to your skin and cause you to struggle to get back to your glowing youthful skin that you started the season with if you're not careful.

It's not all bad news though, using a good quality moisturizer can ward off a lot of the challenging things that happen to your skin during the summer.  Regular application as part of a good skincare routine can help you make the most out of the summer months and keep your skin looking stunning for late evenings out and early morning jogs.

Here are some reasons you should be focused on using a good moisturizer this summer.

1.) Well-moisturized skin can help protect against sun damage.  In order to keep your skin safe from the damaging effects of the sun you will want to use sunscreen, but most sunscreens can cause dryness and cracking on your skin.  If you're using moisturizer in conjunction with a powerful sunscreen you can feel good about protecting your skin without drying it out.

2.) Prevent dryness.  When your skin is dried out by exposure to the sun it often loses natural oils.  Utilizing a good moisturizer can help restore some of these oils to keep your skin hydrated all summer.

3.) Increase your skin's barrier function.  There is a layer of skin that acts as a barrier to harmful substances out and moisture in, this barrier can be strengthened when your skin is well moisturized.

It is important to moisturize your skin year round as it provides a layer of protection for your skin, but in the summer you are constantly battling the weather conditions that can impact your skin's health.  If you keep your skin moisturized it will be healthier year round.
