Use These Three Tips To Protect Your Skin From The Cold Weather

Depending on where you live, this time of the year can be quite detrimental to the health and well-being of your skin.  It doesn't matter how good your skincare routine is, it can be battled back by a brutal winter wind and cold winter months.

There is good news though, there are some things you can do to protect your skin, no matter how bad the conditions getting.  Whether you're faced with walking to work with the wind whipping against your skin or you're enjoying the great outdoors by hitting the ski slopes or anything else in between, the cold weather can cause serious damage to your skin.

Once you've made sure that you have a good skincare routine that includes things like one of our silky smooth moisturizers, based on your skin type, you will want to take some steps to protect your skin when you go out and face the elements.  Here are a few tips you can take along with you.

1.) Use a humidifier.  One of the most damaging things that can happen to your skin in the winter months is that it gets dry.  While a good moisturizer will help with that, a humidifier can do wonders to keep the moisture locked into your skin and combat the daily abuse it takes from the dry winter air.

2.) Cover your skin to protect it from the elements.  With high winds and plunging temperatures your skin can be exposed to extreme conditions in the winter.  To prevent this, whenever you head out into the cold air you should always keep any exposed skin covered and protected from the elements.  If you leave your skin uncovered it can get dry, cracked and even become frostbitten.

3.) Protect your skin from the sun.  You may not think that the winter sun can be damaging to your skin, but it most certainly can be.  If you are going to be exposed to the sun for long periods of time you should wear sunscreen, YES even in the winter.  Sunscreen will help protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun if it is out and beating down on you.

The winter months can drag on and feel like they will never end.  They can cause your skin to get parched and itchy which can lead to long term damage and can be very difficult to combat over time.  If you take some of the outlined steps above you can make sure your skin is protected and healthy leading into the spring and summer months when you can show off your beauty inside and out.
