Observe Your Skin To Determine Your Skincare Routine

Observe Your Skin To Determine Your Skincare Routine

There is a lot of advice that can be found on how to decide on the best skincare routine for yourself, but none of that advice has the one, most important, key ingredient and that is knowledge about your skin.  When it comes to developing the perfect skincare routine there are a lot of opinions, but none of them are a one-size-fits-all solution.  There are many different reasons why you would want to include certain elements to your routine and not others that can cause you to have decision fatigue and not know where to turn.

You can certainly turn to experts who have studied the need for high-quality skincare over the years and listen to their opinions.  These are valuable and knowledgeable resources that can help you make some determinations about your own routine.  You can also seek the opinions of your friends and family who may have experience with certain brands and products that have helped them along the way to have gorgeous and flawless skin.  You may even want to turn to the reviews that strangers have left on websites across the Internet to determine if a product is right for you.  These are all valuable opinions and you should absolutely listen to them to determine your skincare routine.

However, these opinions are not as important as the one that you are with every day all day long, that is YOU.  You are the only one that truly knows your body and your skin.  You are the only one that truly knows how much time you have in the day to dedicate to your skincare routine.  And you are the only one who can set aside the time to observe your skin so you are familiar with the unique properties that make your skin, yours.

With all that said, you should know what you are looking for as you're observing your skin and trying to determine the best path forward for your skincare routine.  You should be spending time observing many of the following things as it relates to your skin and how you should approach your routine.

1.) Shine.  You will want to pay close attention to the T-zone which is comprised of your forehead, nose and chin to determine how shiny or not your skin really is throughout the day.  If you determine that your skin is shiny you can acknowledge that this is a sign of oily skin and you should address your skincare routine accordingly.

2.) Dryness.  After you wash your skin, what are you seeing in terms of how it looks and feels.  If you are experiencing tightness, flakiness or roughness you are experiencing dry skin.  You will want to address this dryness with your skincare routine so you are paying close attention to those products that are specifically aimed at those who have dry skin.

3.) Combination.  The reason it is so important for you to determine your own way forward when it comes to a good skincare routine is that it is not uncommon for your skin to be a combination of shiny and dry.  You might have some shininess in your T-zone, but also some dryness in other places on your skin.  If this is the case then you are considered to have a combination of skin and you may need a variety of tools to handle your skincare routine.

4.) Sensitivity.  One final element you should observe with your skin is whether or not it reacts easily to products or environmental factors.  If your skin becomes red and itchy or irritated, you may have sensitive skin.  If this is the case you will want to choose your skincare very wisely so you do not irritate it further.

When you're thinking about your skincare routine you can most certainly take into account the advice of experts and friends and family who may have some opinions about a good skin program, but the best thing you can do is to observe your own skin and make some determinations based off of your observations.  You are the only person who has a full accounting of how your skin behaves and reacts to the world around you.  It is important that you take the responsibility of keeping your skin glowing and youthful looking in your own hands.
