Extreme Heat Can Have A Negative Impact On Your Skin

It doesn't matter what you do for your skincare routine if you are being exposed to extreme heat this summer it may not matter.  Extreme heat, along with sun exposure, can lead to serious damage to your skin and could leave you with lasting challenges to get your skin back to a healthy spot.

When you are spending time out in the sun and trying to enjoy the summer you will want to make sure you are taking steps to protect your skin.  You should be wearing a hat at all times and you should focus on wearing breathable clothing that also covers your arms and your legs completely.  While sunscreen can help protect your skin from the harsh effects of sun and heat, the only way to truly be free from the dangers of extreme heat and sun exposure is to limit or eliminate all exposure for your skin.

If you are not able to reduce or eliminate your exposure from the sun you could be facing some difficult health situations that could be long lasting.  While not all extreme heat exposure will lead to these conditions, there are often situations that will lead to them and this could cause the weather conditions to reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of your skincare routine, no matter how regularly you are adhering to it.

Some of the negative impacts that extreme heat can have on your skin may include things like;

1.) Heat rash.  When sweat gets trapped in your skin's pores a heat rash that looks red and is itchy can form.  While there are some long term impacts of some heat exposure on your skin, heat rash generally is not a long term problem.  Typically once your skin cools down the rash will go away and it is harmless when you are experiencing it.

2.) Dehydration.  Spending time in extreme heat can lead your body to sweat more which can lead to dehydration.  You can take steps to prevent this by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing your skin regularly, but sometimes that is not enough to combat the extreme heat that you are experiencing.  While dehydration generally does not have a long term impact on the health of your skin, the short term impact may included making your skin look dry, wrinkled and dull.

3.) Premature aging.  This is what we are all trying to avoid as we search for the skincare routine that will keep our skin looking healthy and youthful.  Unfortunately exposure to extreme heat can actually speed up the aging process and undo all of the work you have done to improve your skin and keep it looking youthful.  Exposure to the extreme heat can damage the skin's collagen and elastin which give your skin structure.  This can lead to wrinkles and your skin sagging.

One of the things we are all fighting to maintain is healthy and youthful looking skin.  As you implement a good skincare routine it would be a shame to undo a lot of the work you are doing by leaving your skin exposed to too much heat.  While the heat of the summer can be unavoidable, the steps you can take to keep your skin protected will allow you to enjoy a fun summer without the worry that the sun and extreme heat are doing long term damage to your skin.
