3 Places To Practice Mindfulness Only During The Fall

Once the summer has faded away and the hustle and bustle of your daily routine kicks in again it can be difficult to find the time or place to practice mindfulness during the fall.  However, centering your mind is as powerful as making sure you are taking care of your physical health and have a good skincare routine.  If you are able to get centered, you will be able to live a more balanced life.

I find there are two challenges when trying to practice mindfulness on a regular basis.  The first is probably the most obvious and that is, how do I find the time to practice this most important task of being healthy mentally.  This can be a challenge any time of the year, but especially in the fall when there are any number of activities that I need to run to throughout the week and on the weekends.

So, how do I find the time?

Unfortunately there is no simple fix for this challenge.  The only answer there really is is that you need to make finding the time a priority.  Even though it goes against some of the principles of practicing mindfulness, put a note in your calendar and literally schedule time to practice.  If you don't, your day will get away from you, then your week, and then your month and before you know it you will have not practiced mindfulness for months on end.

Now, where to practice mindfulness?

Spending quality time with your mind is a health and healing process, but if you don't have a good location to do it, you may find yourself struggling to really come to peace with your mind.  While you can really practice mindfulness anywhere, I find that there are some places that are actually better for my practice then others.  Here are a few of the places I like to visit in the fall to help me center myself before the hectic hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

1. My local park:  Most communities have nice local parks where you can get outside and be one with yourself.  Our city has a beautiful duck pond with stunning fall colors where you can enjoy the scenery while also getting the most out of your mindfulness practice.

2. A state park:  Most U.S. states have parks that have been set aside for their residents to enjoy the bountiful beauty of their states.  In some cases these parks may require you to do a little bit of hiking before you find that perfect location to settle in and be at peace.

3. On the water:  Whether you live on the shoreline of the ocean or within walking distance of a lake or small stream, finding a place where you can immerse yourself in the sounds of water can be so peaceful and help you practice your mindfulness while blocking out the rest of the world.

It can be challenging to find the time or the place where mindfulness can really take hold and improve your life, but once you've found that perfect spot and a good schedule you will be well on your way to a significant improvement in your overall mental health.  Pair that with good physical health and your life will be centered.
