Beach Yoga Will Soothe Your Soul

Beach Yoga Will Soothe Your Soul

The overall goal of yoga is to bring peace to your mind, body, and soul and there is no place on Earth more soothing then the beach.  Marry the beach with yoga and your soul will soar.

Whether you're a beginner who is looking for something light and easy to take your mind on a journey or you're an advanced yogi that can do just about any position known to the human body, your experience will be enhanced while taking in some yoga practice on the beach.

Here are some key things to keep in mind when practicing on the beach:

1. Find a private location:  This may be difficult on a weekend afternoon, but if you can get out to the beach around sunrise or during the week you should be able to find some place to start your routine.

2. Go barefoot:  This may seem like a no brainer, but if you're wearing flip flops or water shoes you're not going to get the full experience.  Part of the joy of yoga on the beach is that your toes dig deep into the sand and you can quite literally feel the Earth surround your body.

3. Don't push yourself too hard: The beach has a soothing side, but the sand can also make some poses more difficult then when they are done on solid land.  With sand underfoot you may want to dial back the more difficult poses and just focus on the serenity of your locale.

While you're practicing your yoga be always mindful of your surroundings.  This location in particular brings with it unique sounds and smells that are only found on the beach.  Take these in and internalize this incredible location as you bring peace to your soul.
