Don't Make These Three Summer Skincare Mistakes

Don't Make These Three Summer Skincare Mistakes

Summer weather is approaching and there are a lot of reasons to be thrilled, but if you're making these skincare mistakes you are going to be down in the dumps over the summer weather because it is going to cause serious damage to your skin.

You spend all year long focused on your skincare routine to make sure you have healthy, glowing skin and it would be an absolute shame to let the harsh summer weather do any damage to that.  As part of your routine you already know the importance of using a daily facial cleanser and a great moisturizer to combat the summer conditions, but did you know there are mistakes you can make that might off-set the positive steps you are already taking?  Making these mistakes can leave you wishing to roll the clock back so you can avoid them and keep your skin glowing all summer long.

The mistakes you make now can affect your skin all summer long, so make sure you avoid making these mistakes so you don't regret your choices in the middle of the summer.

Mistake #1: Not wearing sunscreen.  Of course we all know the risks of not wearing sunscreen from a health stand point, but sunscreen does more than just protect your skin from being at risk of skin cancer.  Sunscreen is an important protection against the harsh sun to keep your skin from becoming parched and scorched which can have long-term damaging impacts.  Without sunscreen you may be putting yourself at risk of your skin drying out, wrinkling more and peeling, which is never a good look.

Mistake #2: Not keeping yourself hydrated.  Hydration is a key factor in keeping your whole body healthy all summer long and if you aren't hydrating enough it may also do damage to your skin.  It is important to use a hydrating moisturizer, but it is also important that you consume water and keep your whole body hydrated to continue to keep your skin glowing all summer long.  If you don't drink enough water you can become dehydrated and your body can break down and take your glowing skin with it.

Mistake #3: Not wearing a hat or sunglasses.  Both a hat and sunglasses will help keep your skin free from the harsh UV rays of the sun.  If you don't wear these two summer fashion staples you are leaving yourself exposed to the harsh realities of a steamy summer day. Get fashionable with it and you'll be the best dressed person on the beach AND you will be keeping your skin safe and healthy all season long.

The summer can be a time for fun and happiness, but if you don't keep your skin healthy and protected you can find yourself very quickly becoming miserable with the work you need to put in to get your skin back to the glowing and healthy skin you had before the summer sun and heat ravaged it.  If you avoid the above mistakes and stick to a quality skincare routine then you will be sure to have a great summer and look fabulous the whole time doing it.
