We have officially hit that time of year when the winter weather has taken a hold of everything around us. There is some light snow on the ground, the trees are bare, and the sky is gray. Feeling down in the dumps is not an uncommon thing this time of year, in fact it is far more common then you think.
Some people have dubbed this feeling as the January Blues. This is a combination of factors happening from the cold weather setting in and the gray skies above to the let down that the holidays are over and the feeling that winter will likely drag on for a few months. The good news is, it doesn't have to be this way. You may suffer from the January Blues, but there are some things you can do to help yourself get over the hump and actually have a positive feeling over the next few months.
Here are some suggestions on how you can beat the blues without freezing your toes.
1.) Get out of the house. Those brave enough among us to bundle up and go for a walk will be best off because you will be able to add movement with fresh air and what a better combination to beat the blues. However, if you don't like the cold air on your exposed skin, you can still benefit from getting out and moving, whether you're going to the gym or for a manicure, getting out of the house will do wonders for your mood.
2.) Find a new skincare routine. Trust us, taking good care of your skin is an easy, at-home, thing you can do to get rid of the January Blues. Spending some time working on getting the right routine down so you can have youthful skin going into the spring and summer months will do wonders for your mood.
3.) Learn something. You could focus all your energy on how gross it is outside, but why not warm your mind and body with how nice it is inside. Find an online class, watch a YouTube video, or talk to a friend who can teach you how to do something new. Learning something new will not only pass the time, but it is a great way to expand your thinking and take your mind off the blues.
Whatever you choose to do in the winter months make it something upbeat and happy so you can move your life forward and not be stuck in the blues. We're wishing you success and happiness this winter season and don't forget to moisturize.
