It's in our name, EARTH. It is a founding principle of our business, to produce our products with care for the world around us. Ethically sourced ingredients are a cornerstone to what we do here at Earthen Skincare. That is why it is so important for us to not use palm oil in any of our products.
There are many problems with the production of palm oil, but the most devastating is the amount of deforestation that must happen to harvest palm oil. This deforestation for an ingredient that is not necessary in many products, certainly not in any of our products, is why we are committed to not producing any products with this incredibly harmful ingredient.
While palm oil is produced by harvesting fruit from the trees and the trees can last up to 30 years, the problem comes when the fruit is out of reach and can no longer be harvested. Once this happens, the trees are cut down to make room for new trees and this continues in cycle.
It is estimated that in less then 2 decades nearly 100,000 orangutans have died homes and thousands of other species of animals have either been killed or displaced as a result of the harvesting of palm oil.
We know there is a better way.
While some skincare products have this incredibly harmful ingredient, we are committed to producing our products without it. Not only is it good for the skin, but it is good for the planet, and it is the right thing to do.
