Outdoor Activities That Can Shake the Post Holiday Blues

There is nothing that is better for your heart health and your mental health then some outdoor activity to get clear your mind and get your heart pumping.  If you over-indulged at the holidays like so many of us, some physical activity may be just the trick to get your health kickstarted in the new year.

We've compiled a few of our favorite outdoor activities that you can do to clear your mind and get your body moving at the start of 2020 so you can shake those holiday blues that often linger this time of year.

  1. A simple walk: If you have a pet bring him/her along for a nice quiet walk.  The cool air will get your blood circulating and clear your mind.  This is a light way to get moving and get into the swing of 2020.
  2. Snowshoeing: There is nothing more peaceful than strapping on your snowshoes and hitting a stunning, barely touched, trail through your favorite nature preserve.  Of course this requires snow and if you don't have any right now, see #1.
  3. Walkabout Yoga: We all enjoy a great yoga class now and then in a studio, but taking your namaste out for a cool breath of fresh air is one way to get your body and mind centered.
  4. A snowball fight: The kids will love you for this one and of course it requires snow, but what better way to feel youthful again then to get into a light hearted and friendly snowball fight with the kiddos.
