Skincare Essentials For Mature Skin During Healthy Aging Month

September is Health Aging Month and as a part of the acknowledgment of this we are focused on the aging process and how you can take steps to manage your skincare routine to address your changing skin.  As all of us age our skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic which can lead to results that we are not comfortable with and want to avoid.  There are most certainly skin treatments that can take steps to reverse this aging, but we've always been partial to using a good quality skincare routine to combat these changes.

If you've been good about your skincare routine since you were younger, you will have no problem sticking to a routine that is designed for you as you age.  These steps will help you maintain your youthful appearance without getting those stares when your forehead doesn't wrinkle when you smile.

So, how can you take your skincare routine and adjust it to meet your needs as you are aging?  The good news is that there really isn't a tremendous shift that needs to happen, especially if you are already on solid footing for your routine.  You may need to make some minor tweaks, but if you have already found what works for you, you may not need to do much of anything at all.

With that said, here are some things you should be thinking about as you continue to identify and refine your skincare routine as you get older.

1.) You should be using a gentle cleanser.  Our vegan daily facial cleanser is the perfect fit to add to your routine.  It will be gentle on your skin and it will not dry out your skin or damage your skin.  You will need something you can use multiple times per day that will be able to lift off the dirt and sweat that accumulates on your skin throughout the day.

2.) A hydrating serum may be something you will want to add to your skincare routine as you are aging.  This is not necessarily an element that you might have been using along the way, but it is certainly something that you may want to consider adding to your routine as a good serum can moisturize and add antioxidants to your skin.  You will want to look for a serum that includes Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid.

3.) A rich, hydrating moisturizer is essential to your skincare routine as you age.  This treatment will help lock in moisture and also improve your skin's elasticity.  As mentioned above, these are both areas that start to suffer as we begin to age.  You will want to understand your skin type and then pick out the moisturizer that works best for you.

4.) Eye cream.  The skin around your eyes may become an area of concern for you as you get older and selecting a good eye cream that will combat dark circles and wrinkles is something you may want to considering adding to your skincare routine if you have not already added it.  Pick an eye cream that tackles your key concern areas.

Regardless of your age if you've been working on your skincare routine all along you shouldn't need to make too many changes as you're aging.  September being Healthy Aging Month is just a good time to review what you're doing and make sure that it is working for your changing skin.
