The Four Dangers Of The Summer Weather On Your Skin

The Four Dangers Of The Summer Weather On Your Skin

Talk to a lot of different people and they may indicate that summer is their favorite season of the year.  With the warm days and long nights, summer can provide a lot of fun and excitement for people who like all different kinds of activities.  For your skin though, summer can cause some difficulties.

The summer weather and the resulting environmental impacts of it can present real dangers to your skin and require you to take a different approach to your skincare routine to combat these issues.  While enjoying the warm air and the beautiful sunshine can feel great in the moment, if you're not careful you may do lasting damage to your skin without even realizing it.  The heat and the sun are not the only two dangers presented by summer weather either.  Summer weather can make you sweat more and it can generate more pollution in the environment around you and therefore be damaging to your skin.

You should know the danger that these elements present to your skin and make sure you have a plan in place to combat them.  The dangers that are facing your skin during the summer months include;

  • Sun exposure: The sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin and lead to premature aging, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. It is important to wear sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days, and to reapply it every two hours or more often if you are sweating or swimming.
  • Heat: The heat can dehydrate your skin, making it more prone to dryness, itching, and breakouts. It is important to drink plenty of fluids and to use a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Sweat: Sweat can also clog your pores and lead to acne breakouts. It is important to wash your face regularly and to use an oil-free moisturizer to help prevent breakouts.
  • Pollution: Air pollution can also damage your skin and make it more prone to acne, wrinkles, and other problems. It is important to wear a mask when you are in polluted areas and to wash your face regularly to remove any pollutants that may have accumulated on your skin.

Knowing these dangers will make you more aware of the chances that you could develop dry or wrinkly skin during the summer months and long-term will clue you in to the chances that skin cancer might develop over time.  The first step is identifying the dangers and the second step is taking action to prevent them from causing you problems.  To do this, you will need to have a great skincare routine that will keep your skin protected and hydrated all summer long.

Take the time to look at what you are currently doing in your skincare routine and identify areas where you can add more products that can keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated during the summer.  You should also identify a strong sunscreen that you can use throughout the summer that will keep your skin from getting burnt by the hot summer sun.

Take precautions and prevent these dangers from causing you harm this summer and you can have the summer of your dreams without the nightmares of skin damage.
