The Physical Benefits Of Singing

The Physical Benefits Of Singing

Who among us hasn't turned the car radio up as loud as it will go on the first sunny and warm day of the Spring to sing along to our favorite song?  I'm not alone in this right?  Of course not.

Singing along to your favorite music is good for the soul, but did you know that it can also be good for your physical well-being too?  It's true.  Research has shown that there are actually a number of physical benefits that come from singing along with putting you in a good mood.

Here are some of the benefits that research has found over the years;

  • Lowers stress
  • Boosts immunity
  • Improves lung function
  • Has mental health benefits
  • Aids in the dealing with emotional and physical pain
  • Can enhance your memory

It's true, many of these physical benefits can be seen by simply singing along to your favorite song.  Whether you're driving in your car or sitting alone in your living room with your favorite music turned up nice and loud, singing is a wonderful way to improve your mental and physical health all at the same time.

So, I must know, which song do you turn up to 10 when you're feeling like singing along at the top of your lungs?  For me, it's a toss up between Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Taylor Swift's We Are Never Getting Back Together.  Diverse? Yes.  So fun to sing along to? You better believe it.
