We are almost halfway through the month of January and the new year is in full swing, are you still going strong with your resolutions? If not, that's ok. There is plenty of time to pick yourself back up, dust yourself off, and get back at it again.
If you are still kicking butt and taking names, good for you, we celebrate that. We also want to give you some tips on how to stick with your resolutions so that you can get to the end of the month and celebrate a successful full month of new year, new you.
Resolutions are hard to keep, but there are some things you can do to try to keep them and be more successful at them. Here are a few things you can do, no matter what your resolution is, to ensure that you stick with it.
1. Track it. Whether you want to save more money or put on pants every day on your Zoom calls, simple making a note of whether or not you accomplished it that day/week/month will hold you accountable and allow you to look back on your progress.
2. Celebrate the little victories. If you've resolved to exercise everyday and you get out to exercise, celebrate that, even if you don't end up running five miles. Exercise is exercise and you should celebrate that you have stuck with it. Five miles will come.
3. Positive self talk. Getting down on yourself for not sticking to your resolution can have a snowball effect. Make sure that, even if you fall off a little bit, you get back up, dust yourself off, and tell yourself you can do it. The best motivator is you.
Changing behaviors, no matter how big or small, is not easy. New years resolutions are not going to happen just by saying them out loud, but there are some things you can do to make sure you are climbing to the top of the mountain even if you slip and fall on the way up.
Go get 'em. We believe in you.
