You Should Consider These Things When Exfoliating Your Skin

When you're considering how to construct your skincare routine you will undoubtedly come across the need to find the perfect exfoliating treatment for your skin.  When you're thinking about how to exfoliate your skin it is important to take a number of different things into account.  It's not as simple as waking up one morning and deciding it's time to receive the treatment.  You need to understand your skin type, figure out the best treatment for you and put a plan in place to maintain your youthful and glowing skin.

A skincare routine can consist of a variety of different things like a wonderful vegan daily facial cleanser and a moisturizer that is perfect for your skin type.  As you're considering what your skincare routine should include you will want to make sure that you are focused on how your routine will work into your daily life and whether or not you'll be able to stick with it.  If you start a routine and then suddenly stop it because it is too extensive or too time consuming you will find this to be almost as bad as not starting a skincare routine all together.

Once you've identified the various pieces of your skincare routine, you've hopefully decided on some form of exfoliating for your skin.  There are many different ways to accomplish this including chemical peels and enzymatic exfoliation.  Both of these methods can leave your skin damaged, sometimes significantly and for long periods of time.  You may experience redness and scarring from these types of treatments.  The other option is the #1 selling product in the Earthen Skincare collection and that is InstantPeel.  This gentle, at-home exfoliating treatment will whisk away dead skin cells without any of the redness or damage that is caused by typical spa treatments.

Once you've landed on the type of exfoliating treatment you want to add to your skincare routine you should answer a few other questions.

1.) How often should you exfoliate?  Generally speaking once a week is a good starting place, but if you have oily skin you may want to increase this frequency to 2-3 times per week.  If your skin is particularly sensitive and you've chosen InstantPeel as your exfoliant you can actually continue to perform this treatment 2-3 times per week because it is incredible gentle on your skin and may not harm your sensitive skin.

2.) Should you adjust your routine depending on the time of the year and the weather?  This is of course necessary for many skincare treatments like daily facial cleansers and moisturizers, but is it necessary for exfoliants?  The short answer is, yes.  When your skin gets drier in the winter months, when it is cold outside, you may consider reducing the number of times you exfoliate down to just once per week as it is not as necessary to perform this task as frequently as you might in the warmer weather months.

3.) Do you have any acne or blackheads?  This is an important question and if the answer is yes you may need to exfoliate more frequently.  Exfoliating your skin will help unclog pores that contribute to breakouts.  However, you will want to do this very carefully so to avoid irritating your skin with these treatments.

Whether you're a seasoned pro with your skincare routine or you're just starting out you should consider including some level of exfoliation into your routine.  If you're not sure exactly where to start you can always consult a professional who can help you decide what is right for you.
